MANILA, Philippines — Gale warning is raised in parts of Northern Luzon due to the effects of the northeast monsoon or “amihan,” said the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) in its Thursday afternoon forecast.

Fishing boats in Batanes, Babuyan Islands, Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union, Pangasinan and Cagayan are warned by Pagasa of the strong waves.

“Patuloy natin pina-aalahanan ang mga kababayan nating mangingisda at may mga maliliit na sasakyang pandagat na huwag munang pumalaot sa mga nasasabing baybayin dahil nga sa inaasahan nating malalaking pag-alon,” said Pagasa weather specialist Raymond Ordinario.

(We continue to remind our fisherfolk with small seacrafts not to go out to the mentioned coasts because of the anticipated strong waves).

Meanwhile, the shear line is forecast to trigger overcast skies with rain in Batanes, Babuyan Islands, Marinduque, Quezon, Camarines Norte and Camarines Sur, said Pagasa.

Pagasa also stated that Eastern Visayas, Caraga, Davao Region, and Northern Mindanao will also experience cloudy skies and rain due to the easterlies.

For Metro Manila and the rest of the country, there will be generally fair weather conditions with chances of rain due to localized thunderstorms.
