2 drug suspects slain, 2 cops hurt in Bulacan ‘shootout’

SAN MIGUEL, Bulacan — Two suspected drug traders were killed and two policemen were wounded after they reportedly engaged in a shootout early Monday, Nov. 28.

Colonel Relly Arnedo, Bulacan police director, identified one of the fatalities as Rommel Suarez, an alleged member of the Salvador Criminal Group, who is a high-value individual in Nueva Ecija province. The other fatality was still unidentified.

Arnedo said Corporals Richard Neri and Pat Aaron James Ibasco of the Bulacan 2nd Provincial Mobile Force Command were wounded during the shootout. Both have been declared out of danger.

The team of Neri and Ibasco was serving a warrant of arrest against Suarez in Barangay Maligaya, when the suspects opened fire on them around 2:30 a.m.

Recovered from the scene were spent shells and firearms used by the slain suspects, a sachet of suspected “shabu” (crystal meth), and drug paraphernalia.

Arnedo said they arrested four other drug suspects during the operation. INQ
