Criminology student shot dead in Quezon province

Three security guards survived after they were shot by still unidentified gunmen in Sariaya town in Quezon province on Saturday night (Nov. 12).

LUCENA CITY — A first-year criminology student was shot and killed Monday night aboard his motorcycle in Pagbilao town in Quezon province.

The Quezon police said in a report Tuesday (Nov. 22), that Jayvee Ramos and his back-rider, Leigh Manto, were traveling around 10 p.m. aboard a motorcycle when Ramos was shot once by an assailant armed with a handgun in Barangay Mapagong.

The gunman and his cohort fled after the shooting.

The victim was taken to the nearest hospital, but died at 10:22 p.m. while undergoing treatment.

The police are investigating the incident to unmask the assailants and establish the motives behind the killing.
