3 motorcyclists die in Rizal, Quezon road crashes

LUCENA CITY — Three motorcycle riders died on Thursday and Friday (Nov. 17 and 18) in three separate road accidents in Rizal and Quezon provinces.

A report from the San Mateo, Rizal police said Russel Elcarte was traveling along Patiis Road in Barangay Malanday at 3:20 a.m. when he was accidentally hit by a dump truck.

The motorcyclist was thrown from his vehicle and fell on the pavement. He died while undergoing treatment at the East Avenue Medical Center.

Earlier, Ronaldo Cruz, was traveling along General Luna highway at Barangay Guinayang, also in San Mateo, at 1:10 a.m. when he accidentally fell from his motorcycle.

Cruz was then hit by an oncoming dump truck.

Cruz died while being taken to the nearest hospital due to grave injuries.

The drivers of the dump trucks are now in police custody and are facing criminal complaints.

In Tayabas City, Quezon, motorcyclist Bayani Mangaya Jr. and his pillion rider, Jayson Cumares, were traveling to Lucban town when their motorcycle accidentally crashed into a concrete bridge in the village of Camaysa around 11:10 p.m. on Thursday.

Both riders sustained severe injuries and were rushed by rescuers to Quezon Medical Center in this city, but Mangaya was declared dead on arrival.

Data from the Philippine National Police–Highway Patrol Group, showed that more than 6,000 motorcycle accidents were recorded last year across the country.
