3 dead in Batangas road crash

LUCENA CITY — Three died on Wednesday after the motorcycle they were riding crashed into a parked truck in Taal town in Batangas province.
Batangas police reported that motorcyclist Billy Joe Aquino, 27, his back-riders Jenny Lyn Alvarez, 29, and Daniella Tracy Alava, 21, were traveling at 4:40 a.m. along the national road in Barangay Latag when the motorcycle had a flat tire.
It crashed into a parked truck on the roadside.
All three riders suffered grave injuries and died while being taken to the Batangas Provincial Hospital in neighboring Lemery town.
The report did not state whether or not the fatalities were wearing crash helmets for protection, which the Motorcycle Helmet Act of 2009 requires.
