MANILA, Philippines — The number of reported deaths due to Severe Tropical Storm Paeng (international name: Nalgae) now stands at 156, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) announced on Sunday.
Based on the NDRRMC’s latest situation report, of then 156 reported deaths, 121 have been confirmed while the remaining 35 are still up for validation.
Meanwhile, the number of injuries also climbed to 141, while 35 individuals remain missing.
The fatalities were reported in Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon, Bicol region, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, Western Visayas, Central Visayas, Eastern Visayas, Zamboanga Peninsula, Soccsksargen, Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, Cordillera Administrative Region and Metro Manila.
The number of affected individuals stands at 4,623,408 or a total of 1,296,166 families in 9,481 barangays.
Infra, agri damage
Meanwhile, the estimated damage to infrastructure, so far was estimated at P4,309,850,765.88, including roads, schools, government bulldings and flood control facilities.
The estimated damage to agriculture, on the other hand, is currently at P3,085,192,147.535, affecting 81,866 farmers and fisherfolk.
So far, 522 cities and municipalities have already declared a state of calamity.
