MANILA, Philippines — The donation drive initiated by the House of Representatives to help victims of Severe Tropical Storm Paeng (international name: Nalgae) continued on Thursday, with food packs and other items sent to the provinces of Rizal, Laguna, Cavite, Antique, and Quezon.
Information, along with photos and videos, sent by the Office of House Speaker and Leyte 1st District Rep. Ferdinand Martin Romualdez showed that the following items were given to the said provinces:
- 1,500 packs of relief goods, 100 bundles of bottled water, 30 sacks of rice for Rizal (to be distributed by Rizal 2nd District Rep. Emigdio Tanjuatco III)
- 1,500 packs of relief goods, 100 bundles of bottled water, 30 sacks of rice, 10 bags of diapers, and one box of instant noodles for Laguna (to be distributed by Laguna 1st District Rep. Ma. Rene Ann Lourdes Matibag)
- 200 bags of five-kilogram rice, 50 bundles of bottled water, 50 boxes of corned beef, 10 bags of diapers for Paete, Laguna (to be distributed by Mayor Ronald Cosico)
- 1,000 relief packs, 40 bundles of bottled water, and 10 bags of rice for Cavite (to be distributed by Dasmariñas City Rep. Elpidio Barzaga Jr.)
- 1,000 relief packs, 100 bundles of bottled water, 50 boxes of corned beef for Antique (to be distributed by Anakalusugan party-list Rep. Rey Florence Reyes)
- 200 bags of five kilogram rice, 40 bundles of bottled water, 1,000 packs of relief goods for Quezon (to be distributed by Quezon 3rd District Rep. Reynante Arrogancia)

Romualdez’s office said the donation drive is already on its fifth day. House employees and personnel from local governments and the Philippine National Police (PNP) helped repack, load, and transport the relief goods.
The latest report from the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council indicated that nearly 4 million people were affected when Paeng swept through Mindanao, Visayas, and Luzon regions last weekend.

The NDRRMC also confirmed Thursday that 94 people died due to Paeng as it is still validating reports on 56 other fatalities.
So far, the NDRRMC said it received reports of 150 deaths, mainly from the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao or BARMM (63), Calabarzon (33), and Western Visayas (29).
