Signal No. 3 lifted as Paeng weakens into tropical storm

Tropical storm Karding slightly intensified as it continues to move west, the state weather bureau said in its update on Friday afternoon.

MANILA, Philippines — Signal No. 3 was lifted on Sunday as Paeng, internationally known as Nalgae, had weakened into a tropical storm, according to the 2 a.m. bulletin of the Philippines Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).

Pagasa said Paeng would get past the Luzon landmass in “the coming hour” and move out of the Philippine Area of Responsibility on Monday morning or afternoon.

The center of Paeng was last spotted in the vicinity of Candelaria in Zambales, with maximum sustained winds of 85 kph near the center and a gustiness of up to 140 kph.

Several areas in the county are still under Signal No. 2 and Signal No. 1.
