Murder suspect dead after ‘shootout’ with cops in Albay town

LEGAZPI CITY — A man being served with arrest warrants was killed Sunday, Oct. 23, in an armed confrontation with police officers in Pio Duran town in Albay province.

In a report Monday, Lieutenant Colonel Maria Luisa Calubaquib, Bicol police spokesperson, said Jun Arellano shot police officers serving arrest warrants around 1:40 p.m. in Barangay Malidong, prompting the lawmen to retaliate.

Arellano suffered bullet wounds and was taken to Pio Duran District Memorial Hospital but died along the way.

Calubaquib said the police served arrest warrants for murder, attempted murder, and two counts of violation of the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act. INQ
