Brother of Albay crime group leader killed in shootout with cops in Cavite
LEGAZPI CITY — The brother of a leader of a crime group operating in Albay province was killed in a shootout with police officers early Sunday in a subdivision in General Trias City in Cavite province, a report said.
Killed was Emmanuel Concepcion, brother of Gilbert Concepcion who is the leader of the criminal group bearing their family name, the report said.
The report said a tracker team, composed of General Trias police officers and National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) agents from Bicol, were tasked to serve the Concepcion brothers their arrest warrants at a house inside Cliffwood Subdivision, Governor Hills, in Barangay Biclatan at around 3:30 a.m.
As the raiding team approached the suspect’s house and introduced themselves as law enforcers, Emmanuel opened fire with an unknown type of gun.
This triggered the brief firefight which led to Emmanuel’s immediate death.

The Concepcion brothers were tagged as among the wanted persons in Bicol and are facing complaints for murder, rape, direct assault, and illegal possession of firearms.
The Concepcion crime group was organized in 2010 by Gilbert, who is a former communist rebel but became a government asset then later became a soldier, police said.
He later went AWOL (absent without leave) and was dismissed from the service.
The group is involved in robberies, extortions, gunrunning, and gun for hire activities, said police.
