2 alleged NPA rebels, 9 sympathizers yield to military in Batangas

An unidentified man, believed to be a "salvage" or summary execution victim, was found in Tanauan City in Batangas province on Wednesday, Oct. 19, police said.

LUCENA CITY — At least two alleged New People’s Army (NPA) rebels and nine militia surrendered Thursday to the military in Taysan town in Batangas province.

Police Regional Office 4A reported on Friday that NPA militia members named Mauro Gonito, Menardo Ebreo, Reynaldo Agapay, William Balmes, and Mario, Gregonio, Carlos, Tiburcio, and Tomas, all surnamed De Torres, turned themselves in to the 59th Infantry Battalion in Barangay San Marcelino.

Police said Eufemia Ebreo and Norilyn De Torres, members of the “Sangay ng Partido sa Lokalidad” (Party Branch in the Locality), also surrendered to the government.
