ZAMBOANGA CITY, Zamboanga del Sur, Philippines — Police here said they were eyeing four suspects in the killing of local businessman Alvin Perez on Thursday
“We have four suspects based on the accounts provided by the surviving companions of Perez. We were able to secure CCTV footage of the two motorbikes and we are coordinating with other agencies to locate the owners of these two motorbikes,” said Maj. Albin Cabayacruz, acting commander of Zamboanga City Police Station 5.
He admitted that there were no established motives yet. Perez, 49, is a contractor who is known in the community as an operator of several cockpits.
Perez was with his two close-in security personnel, Danny Boy Bellesa and Regie Mendoza Bartolome. They were on board a Toyota vehicle when the four suspects on two motorbikes, started firing as the car parked at Sitio Lumiyap in Barangay Divisoria.
“He sustained 22 bullet wounds on different parts of his body. There were more than 50 empty shells of an M16 rifle and a .45-caliber pistol,” Cabayacruz said in an interview, adding that the suspects probably had “intense rage” against their victim.
Bellesa sustained a bullet wound on the right side of his body while Bartolome was unharmed.
