MANILA, Philippines — The low-pressure area (LPA) east of Central Luzon has intensified into a tropical depression on Thursday and will be locally known as “Karding”, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).

In its mid-day update, Pagasa said Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 1 would likely be hoisted over Northern Luzon and some parts of Central Luzon by Friday evening or Saturday morning due to “Karding.”

Based on Pagasa’s track and intensity outlook, “Karding” will move eastward in the next 12 hours before turning west tomorrow.

It will continue westward until it makes landfall in Isabela or Cagayan on Sunday.

Pagasa added that ‘Karding” is expected to cross Northern Luzon before exiting the West Philippine Sea on Monday.

Residents in affected areas have been advised to stay alert an d watch out for hazards posed by the approaching weather disturbance.
