Magnitude 4.2 earthquake hits Abra

MANILA, Philippines — A magnitude 4.2 earthquake struck Abra on Tuesday, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs), explaining that this was an aftershock of the magnitude 7.0 earthquake that ravaged the area last July 27.

Phivolcs detected the aftershock at 12:21 p.m. and located its epicenter 2 kilometers northeast of Bucay, Abra.

The tectonic earthquake’s depth of focus was 17 kilometers.
