Lawyer, son ambushed in Mandaue City
CEBU CITY — A lawyer based here and her son were shot and wounded by still unidentified assailants along Hernan Cortes Street in Mandaue City at around 10 p.m. on Thursday, September 1.
Lawyer Karen Quiñanola-Gonzales, a senior corporate attorney at the Cebu Port Authority, was driving her car when the perpetrators fired at her vehicle, according to Police Captain Armil Caloscos in an interview over radio dyHP.
It was not known yet whether or not the assailants were on board a motorcycle.
Gonzales, who is in her 40s, sustained a gunshot wound on her neck while her 19-year-old son, who was in the passenger seat, was hit on his back, Caloscos said.
Both of them were rushed to the hospital for treatment.

Before she became a member of the bar, Gonzales worked with the Cebu-based The Freeman newspaper.
