MANILA, Philippines — The no-contact apprehension policy should be polished first before implementation because its flaws burden motorists.
Senator JV Ejercito made that call on Monday, despite admitting that the scheme is “a good idea.”
“The Non-Contact Apprehension is a good idea but not unless the system is already perfected; it’s the only time it should be enforced and implemented,” he said in a Twitter post on Sunday, August 14.

He lamented nevertheless that many drivers and riders were “unjustly fined” because of the poor implementation of the policy.

Several local government units in Metro Manila use closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras to capture traffic violations.

The goal is to limit human intervention and corruption in traffic ticketing.
The Land Transportation Office earlier urged LGUs to suspend their implementation of the no-contact apprehension policy following complaints from public utility vehicle operators who were forced to pay fines.
