BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya—Twenty-one victims of human trafficking in this town were rescued on Sunday, August 14, by National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) agents in the Cagayan Valley.

Virgilio Reganit, head agent of the NBI Bayombong District Office, said the women were working at Sunrise Videoke Bar, where an alleged sex trade was taking place.

“The 21 women are being sexually exploited by the bar’s customers for a fee ranging from P1,000 to P3,000,” Reganit added.

Reganit said they arrested Evangeline Torres-Escalante, 43, and Analyn Estabillo-Torres, 45, who allegedly manage the bar in Barangay Sta. Rosa in this town. Another suspect, Christopher Jun Domingo, 38, remained at large.

The suspects would be charged with violating the Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act of 2003, as amended by Republic Acts 10364 and 11862. INQ
