QCPD to investigate if Ateneo shooting linked to killing of gunman’s father
MANILA, Philippines — The Quezon City Police District said that it will investigate whether or not the shooting incident at the Ateneo de Manila University was related to the killing of the gunman’s father in Basilan.
This came after Rolando Yumol was gunned down in Lamitan City, Basilan on Friday. Rolando is the father of Dr. Chao Tiao Yumol, the suspect in the Ateneo de Manila University shooting.

“We are going to investigate if it’s related or not,” QCPD Director PBGen. Remus Medina told reporters when asked whether the police will investigate if there is a connection between the two incidents.
According to Medina, Yumol has already been informed of his father’s death but was not allowed to visit or attend the wake.
“He cannot visit the wake for security reasons and may kaso na siya and may (he already has charges filed against him and a) commitment order from the court for him to be transferred to the custody of BJMP [Bureau of Jail Management and Penology],” said Medina.
