Village councilor in Masbate town shot dead

LEGAZPI CITY — A village councilor in Baleno town in Masbate was shot and killed by unidentified assailants on Sunday afternoon, police reported.
Masbate police said Noli Licup, 56, a resident of Barangay (village) Docol was shot by two unidentified gunmen in Barangay (village) Tinapian at around 1:40 p.m.

Initial investigation revealed that the victim was riding a motorcycle when he was attacked by the suspects who shot him multiple times in the back.

Licup died on the spot.
Recovered at the crime scene were six caliber .45 shell casings.
The police conducted a hot pursuit operation for the possible apprehension of the suspects.
