MANILA, Philippines — Ninety-two-year-old former first lady Imelda Marcos seemed to have all of her ailments disappear as she felt “extra excited” and “so happy” over the victory of her son, Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., in the May 9 presidential polls.

This was according to her daughter, Senator Imee Marcos, who also expressed her gratitude for the second chance given to her family to return to Malacañang.

“Siyempre ‘yung nanay ko sobrang excited. Tuwang-tuwa siya sa mga pangyayari,” the lady senator told reporters at the Batasang Pambansa Complex where Bongbong is expected to be proclaimed as the 17th President of the country.

(Of course, my mom is very excited. She’s so happy with all of what’s happening.)

“She’s suddenly able to hear, to walk, lahat ng sakit-sakit noong panahon ng COVID-19. Lahat ng nararamdaman biglang nawala. Maliksing-maliksi,” she added.

(All of her ailments during COVID-19 seem to have vanished. She’s very energetic.)

“Parang hindi na siya uli 92, kundi 29,” she added.

(It’s like she’s no longer 92 but 29.)

Based on the latest processed certificates of canvass, which reflect over 94% of total votes, the Bongbong was leading the May 2022 presidential race, garnering over 31.2 million votes.

He is followed far behind by Vice President Leni Robredo, who so far only obtained 14.8 million votes.

Bongbong’s running mate Sara Duterte-Carpio was also taking the lead in the vice presidential contest with over 31.8 million votes as of this posting.

Imee Marcos said she expects her mom Imelda to attend the proclamation of Bongbong at the Batasang Pambansa Complex.

In 2018, Imelda Marcos was convicted by the Sandiganbayan of seven counts of graft and was sentenced to a maximum of 77 years in prison.

But Imelda, who skipped the promulgation of her conviction, said she was suffering from “multiple organ infirmities.”
