SAN ANTONIO, Zambales––Ten of the 13 municipalities in this province remained free of COVID-19 after recording zero new COVID-19 cases in the past few weeks, data from the Provincial Health Office showed Tuesday, May 17.
Only three active infections were logged in the province, and these were from the towns of Botolan, San Narciso, and Palauig.
As of Tuesday, the towns of Iba, Subic, Masinloc, Castillejos, San Marcelino, San Antonio, Sta. Cruz, Candelaria, San Felipe, and Cabangan have zero active COVID-19 cases.
Since the pandemic struck in 2020, the province has recorded 11,642 infections. At least 11,288 of these cases were tagged as “recoveries,” while 664 patients had died due to the viral disease.
So far, 392,767 residents, or 60.45 percent of the target population, in the province have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
