COVID-free towns in Zambales rise to 8

SAN ANTONIO, Zambales––The number of towns obtaining a COVID-19-free status has increased to eight after three more localities logged zero active cases on Wednesday, March 23.

Data from the provincial health office showed that the towns of Sta. Cruz, Candelaria, and Cabangan are now COVID-19-free after their remaining virus-infected patients had recovered.

Earlier, Subic, Castillejos, San Narciso, San Antonio, and San Felipe towns obtained a similar status.

To date, nine active cases are left in the province-three in the capital town of Iba, two each in Masinloc and San Marcelino, and one each in Botolan and Palauig.

Since 2020, the province has recorded 11,600 confirmed cases of COVID-19, but 11,247, or 94 percent, have recovered from the disease, while 656 have died.
