24 faulty VCMs mar voting in Bulacan

Vote-counting machines undergo final testing, sealing in Ilocos Norte

CAMP GEN. ALEJO SANTOS, Bulacan–At least 24 vote-counting machines (VCMs) in this province have malfunctioned as of 4 p.m. Monday, May 9, authorities said.

Casting of votes in at least nine towns was halted pending the replacement of 11 faulty VCMs. At least 13 other machines that had experienced technical problems in the morning were replaced.

The latest faulty VCMs were reported in the City of Malolos and the towns of San Ildefonso, Hagonoy, San Miguel and Balagtas.

FEATURED STORIES

Most of the machines experienced paper jams, failed to print receipts, and overheated.

Bulacan has 2,878 VCMs serving 2,007,523 registered voters. INQ
