4 BARRM guvs, local execs endorse Bongbong Marcos-Sara Duterte tandem
MANILA, Philippines — Four Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) governors are endorsing former senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. and Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio for president and vice president, respectively, in the upcoming May polls.
Showing their support for the tandem are Sulu Governor Abdusakur Tan, Tawi-Tawi Governor Yshmael Sali, Maguindanao Governor Mariam Mangudadatu, and Lanao del Sur Governor Mamintal “Bombit” Alonto Adiong Jr.
The four governors, along with allied mayors and other local leaders signed an oath of commitment to show their full support for the tandem during a program at the Manila Hotel on Friday night.
“We the governors, mayors, and traditional leaders of BARMM, commit ourselves to fervently, strongly, and firmly support the unifying leadership and candidacy of Marcos for the position of president of the Republic of the Philippines, and Duterte for the position of vice president of the Republic of the Philippines” the pledge of commitment read.
“We commit to protect the will of the people and safeguard the victory of Ferdinand ‘Bongbong’ Marcos Jr., and Mayor Inday Sara Duterte as president and vice president of the Republic of the Philippines,” it added.
While Marcos Jr. managed to secure the support of the BARMM governors, his rival Vice President Leni Robredo received the support of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front and its political party, the United Bangsamoro Justice Party.
