DAGUPAN CITY — Two elderly men drowned in the sea off Nibaliw Vidal village in San Fabian town, Pangasinan province on Tuesday (April 19) evening, authorities said.

The police identified the victims as 60-year-old twin brothers Robaldo and Reynaldo Ocomen Garbo, both residents of Sta. Ines village, Manaoag town, also in Pangasinan. Reynaldo was a village councilor.

Police quoted a relative of the victims who said the two were intoxicated when they went for a swim and were swept away by strong waves.

Their relatives were able to pull them toward the shore, but they were both unconscious.

Rescuers tried but failed to revive the siblings, investigators said.

Responders from the San Fabian local government brought them to the Region I Medical Center, but the brothers were declared dead on arrival.
