6 dead in Rizal, Cavite, Batangas road mishaps

LUCENA CITY––Six motorists died in three road accidents on Easter Sunday, April 17, in Rizal, Cavite, and Batangas provinces, authorities said.

The Calabarzon police reported that three persons died and five others were injured after their vehicle overturned and slammed into an electric post at 8:45 a.m. while negotiating a curve in a road in Barangay Daraitan, Tanay, Rizal.

The fatalities were Maximo Legaspi, Manuel Peralta, and one alias “Butor.”

In General Trias City, Cavite, a motorcycle driven by John Paul Balibado, occupied the opposite lane and at 11:45 a.m., bumped a jeepney driven by Robert Generoso in Barangay Javalera.

Balibado and his unidentified back-rider suffered injuries and were rushed to separate hospitals.

Police said Balibado was declared dead on arrival, while the back-rider died during treatment.

Authorities also reported the death of another motorcyclist, identified as Floredion Macalalad, in a vehicular accident, at 6:20 p.m. in Barangay Sinisian East in Lemery, Batangas.

Police said the victim occupied the opposite lane and bumped two oncoming motorcycles.

The three riders suffered injuries and were rushed to two hospitals, but Macalalad died on the way.
