10 hurt as dump truck falls into ravine in Tabuk City

ROXAS, Isabela––Ten people were injured Sunday when a mini-dump truck fell into a 4-meter ravine in Naneng village, Tabuk City, the police said.

Two of the victims–Arnold Alunday, 35, and Deniel Ongat, 34–were taken to the Kalinga Hospital after suffering fractures.

Eight others, including driver Martin Macad Laguia-ao, 39, of Tinglayan, Kalinga, were discharged from the hospital after being treated for their wounds.

Investigators said Laguia-o was driving the truck from Bulanao village and was heading to Tinglayan town when it encroached the other lane and fell into the ravine while cruising the Kalinga-Mt. Province national road in Sitio Banong.

He said he lost control of the vehicle when the steering wheel and the brakes malfunctioned.
