2 dead, 3 hurt as truck falls in Quezon ravine
LUCENA CITY – Two motorists died, and three passengers were injured Tuesday after their vehicle fell into a 20-feet deep ravine at the national highway in Infanta town in Quezon province.
Infanta police reported that Roberto Vicente was negotiating around 8 a.m. a section of the national highway on his truck, a Mitsubishi Canter, in Barangay Magsaysay with five passengers Joseph Galang, Archie Vicente, Norly Buco, Marilou Sangil, and Virgilio Chico.
Corporal Samuel Gobangco, the case investigator, said the truck’s brake suddenly malfunctioned, causing the vehicle to fall into the cliff.
The police report said truck driver Vicente and passenger Galang suffered grave injuries and died on the way to Claro M. Recto Hospital at the town center. Passengers Vicente, Buco, and Sangil had injuries.
Another passenger, Chico, was unhurt.
The truck came from Calumpit, Bulacan, and was headed for Infanta to deliver construction materials.
