16 hurt as jeepney falls into ravine in Quezon town

LUCENA CITY—At least 16 people were injured after a public utility jeepney fell into a 100-foot ravine along the zigzag road in Pagbilao town in Quezon province early on Wednesday (Feb. 16).

The driver, Ronnel Francia, lost control of the steering wheel after the jeepney’s brakes failed while it was negotiating a descending section of the zigzag road, according to Maj. Milo Tabernilia, Pagbilao police chief.

The wayward vehicle hit a concrete barrier, fell into the cliff and rested on its left side.

The injured passengers were taken to Quezon Medical Center in Lucena City for treatment.

Police reported no casualty among the victims who came from Bicol and were headed to Dasmariñas, Cavite.
