Teacher dies in motorcycle-truck mishap in Leyte

ORMOC CITY–A public school teacher aboard a motorcycle died Wednesday after the vehicle bumped a dump truck along the national highway Barangay Macopa, Jaro town, Leyte.

Rulito Decio, 32, a teacher of the Alang-alang National High School, succumbed to wounds on his body. Motorcycle driver Arnel Agcaoili remained in critical condition at the Eastern Visayas Regional Medical Center in Tacloban City.

Lt. Col. Ma. Bella Rentuaya, spokesperson of the Eastern Visayas police, said Agcaoili was evading a stray dog that suddenly crossed the road when the incident happened.

“The motorcycle boarded by the two victims swerved to the right side of the highway and in the process bumped an oncoming dump truck,” she said.

A local rescue group immediately brought the motorcycle driver was to the EVRMC because of severe injuries.
