GENERAL TRIAS, Cavite, Philippines — “It’s just a boast, but I think we’ll get there,” Cavite Gov. Jonvic Remulla said with a laugh on Tuesday.

That was his reply on being asked about the 800,000 vote margin in his province that he said he could muster for president candidate Ferdinand Marcos Jr.

Remulla made the remark after Marcos and running mate Davao City Mayor Sara Dterte-Carpio visited the vote-rich Cavite the second time.

To end their day in Cavite, Marcos and Duterte-Carpio held a grand rally in General Trias town that Remulla claimed was attended by at least 100,000 people.

This is on top of the estimated 40,000 people who, he said, were outside the venue.

“I asked them to come back,” Remulla told reporters when asked why the tandem visited the province for the second time.

“Cavite has something to prove… Cavite is the epicenter of Philippine politics. Where Cavite goes, the country goes,” he added.
