LPA to bring rain in large portion of PH — Pagasa

MANILA, Philippines — The low pressure area (LPA) off Davao City will bring rain in a large portion of the country on Tuesday, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).

Pagasa weather specialist Aldczar Aurelio said in a weather forecast that the LPA was last spotted 100 kilometers east-southeast of Davao City, Davao Del Sur.

“Dahil sa epekto ng low pressure area, malaking bahagi ng ating bansa ang makakaranas ng maulap na kalangitan na may mga pag-ulan,” he said.

Based on Pagasa’s forecast, the LPA will bring cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms in Visayas, Mindanao, and the provinces of Sorsogon, Albay, Masbate, Romblon, and Palawan.

Aurelio said the LPA is still not expected to develop into a tropical depression, but he warned of possible flash floods or landslides due to moderate to at times heavy rains in areas affected by the weather disturbance.

Meanwhile, he also said that the northeast monsoon, locally known as amihan, is currently affecting the weather in Northern Luzon.

“Ang northeast monsoon o amihan ay naaapektuhan ang Northern Luzon. Inaasahan po natin na ito ay lalakas at maaapektuhan ngayong araw ang malaking bahagi ng Luzon,” he said.

(The northeast monsoon or amihan is affecting the weather in Northern Luzon. We expect that it will intensify and affect a large portion of Luzon today.)

According to Pagasa, the northeast monsoon will bring cloudy skies with light rains in Cagayan Valley, and partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains in Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon.

Metro Manila: 24 to 33 degrees Celsius
Baguio City: 15 to 24 degrees Celsius
Laoag City:  21 to 31 degrees Celsius
Tuguegarao: 21 to 33 degrees Celsius
Legazpi City: 23 to 27 degrees Celsius
Puerto Princesa City: 26 to 32 degrees Celsius
Tagaytay: 19 to 31 degrees Celsius
Kalayaan Islands: 26 to 33 degrees Celsius
Iloilo City: 24 to 27 degrees Celsius
Cebu: 25 to 30 degrees Celsius
Tacloban City: 25 to 28 degrees Celsius
Cagayan De Oro City: 24 to 28 degrees Celsius
Zamboanga City: 24 to 33 degrees Celsius
Davao City: 26 to 33 degrees Celsius
