Cop cornered by robbers in Angono holdup

A ranking officer of the Philippine National Police was robbed by men on motorcycles in Angono, Rizal province, on Wednesday night, with the culprits taking from the cop his service firearm and P7,000 in cash, according to a police report.

The official, Police Maj. Eli Christian Condrado of the PNP’s Drug Enforcement Group, was in civilian clothes when he left the PNP headquarters in Camp Crame around 7 p.m.

Riding a motorcycle as he returned home, he was traveling along Don Mariano Santos Avenue when a motorcycle ahead of him with two men on board made a U-turn toward his direction.

Another motorcycle, also with two men on board, approached him from his rear, and the man who was riding pillion alighted and drew a pointed object at him.

One of the robbers slashed and took away the police major’s sling bag where he kept his 9mm service pistol and his wallet containing his IDs and money.

The suspects then drove off in different directions.

The PNP had yet to respond, as of this reporting, when asked to comment on the incident.
