MANILA, Philippines — Authorities have arrested a man and confiscated P3.5 million worth of “shabu” (crystal meth) during an anti-drug operation in Quezon City.
The Philippine National Police (PNP) said in a statement that suspect Muslimin Mantil was arrested during a buy-bust operation jointly conducted by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) in Barangay Bagbag, Quezon City on Monday, February 21.
It also said that 550 grams of shabu were confiscated from the suspect.
Mantil will be facing charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, according to the PNP.
“Despite the many anti-drug operations that the Police units have been conducting, we make sure that they are properly coordinated among units or stations within the organization or even those joint operations with other law enforcement agencies,” said PNP Chief Gen. Dionardo Carlos.
“Before the actual operation, it must have undergone a thorough intelligence gathering and surveillance,” he added.
