MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine National Police (PNP) on Tuesday said it will work with the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) as it investigates the disappearance of 29 sabungeros (cockfight bettors/watchers) in different places.
“We already have the accounts of witnesses and other pieces of evidence which can aid in the probe. If they request, then we will gladly share notes,” PNP chief Gen. Dionardo Carlos said in a statement.
“We see this as a welcome development to work hand-in-hand in resolving these cases,” he added.
Carlos also promised that the PNP will cooperate in a Senate inquiry on the matter.
“We will be transparent with the case update and all evidence on hand,” he said.

According to Carlos, important information from the involved cockpit operators where the missing cockfight bettors or watchers were last seen has yet to be extracted. But he assured worried families that the PNP is exhausting all efforts to locate the missing persons and arrest those who are behind their disappearance.
The PNP earlier said they are already looking into the identities of three persons of interest to shed light on the vanishing of four of the 29 missing cockfight enthusiasts.
