PNP logs 6 new COVID-19 infections, lowest since Dec. 31
MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine National Police (PNP) recorded six new COVID-19 cases among its personnel as of Wednesday, which is its lowest since December 31 last year or before infections soared due to the Omicron variant.
The PNP’s Public Information Office said that the active COVID-19 infections went down from 202 to 166 as 42 more patients recovered from the disease. The total recovery count is now at 48,456.
No new deaths were also recorded. The death toll stands at 128.
Overall, 48,750 PNP personnel have so far contracted COVID-19 since the pandemic gripped the country in 2020.
Before the latest surge in COVID-19 cases, PNP recorded only five new infections on December 31, 2021. There were also instances in late 2021 where no infections were tallied, just like on December 26 and 27. With reports from Jericho Zafra, trainee
