PNP reports 7 new COVID-19 cases, lowest daily tally since Dec 2021

The Philippine National Police (PNP) on Tuesday reported seven new COVID-19 infections, its lowest single-day tally since Dec. 31 last year.

MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine National Police (PNP) on Tuesday reported seven new COVID-19 infections, its lowest single-day tally since Dec. 31 last year.

Based on the latest COVID-19 bulletin of the PNP Health Service, the addition of seven new infections brought to 48,745 the total number of police personnel who have contracted the disease caused by SARS-CoV-2 since the start of the pandemic in 2020.

The PNP also reported 63 new recoveries, raising the number of COVID-19 survivors among its ranks to 48,415.

The number of active cases among PNP personnel also decreased to 202 from the 258 recorded on Monday.

According to the PNP case bulletin, there had been no additional fatalities, retaining the death toll at 128.

On Dec. 31, 2021, the PNP reported five COVID-19 cases, but that number started to climb in the first weeks of 2022 as the highly transmissible Omicron variant emerged in the country. Jericho Zafra, INQUIRER.net trainee
