MANILA, Philippines — Election Commissioner Rowena Guanzon on Monday said she would reveal which senator was responsible for the delay in releasing the disqualification cases against Ferdinand Marcos Jr. once she retires and gets assurance that the Senate will investigate the matter.

“In due time, because I want an assurance that when I mention the name, the Senate will investigate. I’m not just going to mention the name and then nothing will happen,” said Guanzon in an interview over the ABS-CBN News Channel.

“He is more powerful than me and claims to be closer to the President,” said Guanzon.

When asked why she has yet to disclose who the senator is, Guanzon said she is waiting to get out of their jurisdiction.

“Because I am not yet retired, you wait for me to retire. Until I am no longer under your jurisdiction,” said Guanzon.

Guanzon believes it was a “conspiracy” to defeat her vote against Marcos Jr. to ensure that her vote would not be taken into account once she retired on Feb. 2.

However, fellow Commissioner Aimee Ferolino — the ponente in the disqualification case against presidential aspirant Ferdinand Marcos Jr. — earlier denied the accusations, saying she is reviewing three consolidated cases, therefore, it would take longer.
