ILIGAN CITY — Misamis Occidental Gov. Philip Tan has admitted that he tested positive for SARS-CoV2, the virus that causes COVID-19.

In a social media post, Tan said he started sneezing on Thursday and had a slight fever on Friday, hence immediately underwent an antigen test.

When the antigen test returned positive, he was subjected to a reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction test, which also returned positive.

Tan had since gone into self-isolation.

Tan’s wife, Tangub City Mayor Jennifer Tan, had a negative result during an antigen test.

The governor has asked those who have come in close contact with him last week to be checked in a health center.

Tan also asked residents of the province to have themselves vaccinated so they are protected against COVID-19. Ryan D. Rosauro, Inquirer Mindanao
