Active COVID-19 cases in Cagayan province rise to over 3,000

TUGUEGARAO CITY — The number of active COVID-19 cases in the province of Cagayan has ballooned to 3,385 after recording 317 new infections on Sunday (Jan. 23), local data showed.

Records from the Provincial Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit (PESU) showed that the province also registered nine new COVID-19 deaths and 344 new recoveries.

The new deaths were recorded in Tuguegarao and the towns of Solana, Santa Teresita, Amulung and Baggao.

Tuguegarao alone has 1,912 active COVID-19 cases after adding 189 cases on Sunday.

Only Calayan town has remained free of COVID-19 so far. INQ
