Bilibid superintendent relieved over escape of 4 inmates
MANILA, Philippines—The acting superintendent of the New Bilibid Prison’s Maximum Security Compound has been relieved of his post following the escape of four inmates last Monday.
Ordered relieved was Corrections Technical (CT) Superintendent Arnold Guzman. However, he will remain as deputy chief of the bureau’s Supply Division.
CT Supt. Roy Villasi is designated as acting superintendent of the compound while concurrently serving as chief of the BuCor Project Management and Doctrine Development Division (PMDD).
The order was signed by Bureau of Corrections’ (BuCor) Technical (CT) Chief Superintendent John Paul Santos, acting director for administration.
Meanwhile, BuCor Spokesperson Gabriel Chaclag said BuCor Director General Gerald Bantag also relieved Bilibid’s Commander of the Guards Chief Senior Inspector Israel Basi.
Chaclag said they “are now under the Directorate for Administration while an investigation is still on-going regarding the escape incident.”

The inmate, Michael Dullavin died while being treated at the Ospital ng Muntinlupa.
Also injured were three BuCor personnel — Angelito Marquez, Mark Joseph Pesons, and Jancy Dagonas.
Meanwhile, two of the four escapees Arvin Bio and Pacifico Adlawan were killed in a shootout with pursuing lawmen while Drakilou Y. Falcon and Chris Candas Ablas remain at large.
