Angeles City to vaccinate eligible minors vs COVID-19 per village

ANGELES CITY – The city government here will start vaccinating 12 to 17-year-old residents against COVID-19 on November 5.

In a statement, Mayor Carmelo Lazatin Jr. said the minors would be vaccinated via the city’s “Sundo Bakuna” program, wherein villagers are fetched to and from the vaccination centers.

He said the inoculation would be on a per village schedule basis.

Irish Calaguas, Lazatin’s chief adviser, said the schedules and guidelines would be posted on the city information office’s Facebook page starting next week.

She said a parent or legal guardian must accompany minors. Those with medical conditions must also have clearance from their doctors.

Some netizens expressed their apprehension about the vaccination of minors against COVID-19. They said Chinese-made vaccines and some brands should not be used for kids since only the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines have been authorized to be administered to 12 years old and above.

Food and drug agencies in some countries like the United States and Australia approved Pfizer and Moderna vaccines for emergency use for 12 years old above.

Other known brands like Johnsons & Johnson’s Janssen and AstraZeneca have been approved for 18 years old and older.
