Davao lawmaker Paolo Duterte tests positive for COVID-19
DAVAO CITY––Davao First District Rep. Paolo Duterte has COVID-19, his younger sister, City Mayor Sara Duterte, said.
The mayor said her brother underwent a reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction test Sunday, the result of which came out Monday and turned positive for SARS-CoV2, the virus that causes COVID-19.
The congressman, who remained asymptomatic, was isolated in a hospital while his family members were quarantined at home.
Paolo expressed thanks to everyone who showed concern for him and his family.
“Rest assured that we will comply with the quarantine and will continue to serve the people of Davao even in isolation,” he said.
The lawmaker is the second among President Duterte’s children to be infected with COVID-19 after Vice Mayor Sebastian Duterte tested positive in July.
