MANILA, Philippines — Former congressman and senatoriable Neri Colmenares on Friday urged the opposition presidential candidates to work hard on uniting the opposition slate.

Colmenares noted that even though President Rodrigo Duterte’s camp “appears to be breaking up into pieces,” it is still possible that there can be a Marcos-Duterte or a Sara Duterte-Marcos tandem.
“I am making a personal appeal to my former colleagues in Congress, Vice President Leni Robredo and Sen. Manny Pacquiao, as well as my party mate during the 2016 elections, Mayor Isko Moreno, to continue the efforts at a united opposition slate for the 2022 elections,” Colmenares said in a statement.
“A united opposition will be key to ending Duterte’s reign of tyranny, incompetence and corruption,” he added.
Despite talking to Pacquiao, Moreno, and other politicians about forming an alliance, Robredo has yet to come up with a concrete plan.

“The opportunity to unite the opposition will still be there even after you have filed your certificates of candidacy this October,” Colmenares said. “We are not giving up.”
