OLONGAPO CITY––The local government has begun vaccinating eligible residents belonging to the A5 category or indigent sector as it inches closer to achieving herd immunity from COVID-19, the city health office (CHO) said Friday, Sept. 24.
The city has vaccinated 69,382 healthcare workers, senior citizens, persons with comorbidities, and essential workers.
Of these, at least 30,139 have been fully vaccinated against the viral disease.
The city uses two venues to speed up its mass vaccination–the SMX Convention Center of SM Olongapo and the Rizal Triangle covered court.
On Friday, the local government targeted to inoculate at least 2,500 more residents for their second dose of the Sinovac or Pfizer vaccine.
The city needs to vaccinate 182,000 of its 260,000-population to achieve herd immunity against COVID-19. INQ
