MANILA, Philippines — Dr. Willie Ong, vice presidential candidate and running mate of Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso, is aiming to provide the most appropriate COVID-19 vaccines and medicines to Filipinos, if he wins the 2022 polls.

During the official launch of the tandem on Wednesday, Ong talked about vaccines, medicines, and medical services, among others, and said that there will not be any empty promises.

“Ano goal natin? Simple lang. Ito kaya ko. Ito madali sa’kin. Bibigay ko ‘yung pinakatamang bakuna sa inyo. ‘Yung mga darating, o-order tayo, ‘yung isasaksak, ‘yung the best. ‘Yung gamot the best,” Ong said.

(What is our goal? It’s simple. This is what I can do. This is easy for me. I’ll give you the most appropriate vaccines. The ones that will arrive, we’ll order the best vaccines. The medicines, the best.)

“The best na gamot, the best na gamit. Kung ano ang kinukuha sa America, sa Europe, kawawa naman kung wala tayo no’n,” he added.

(The best medicines and supplies. It’s pitiful if we don’t have what America and Europe are getting.)

On top of medicines, Ong is pushing to improve medical services such as free dialysis and heart operations.

“Hindi malulunasan lahat. No empty promises. Walang six months, walang 12. Pero dadamihan natin ‘yan. Dadamihan natin. ‘Yang health center, pupunuin natin ng gamot ‘yan,” he went on.

(We cannot solve all of it. No empty promises. No six months nor 12. But, we will increase it. We will fill health centers with medicines.)

Further, Ong encouraged the public to get vaccinated against COVID-19 and urged health workers to return to hospitals to help patients.
