MANILA, Philippines — A Makabayan lawmaker has appealed to the Commission on Elections (Comelec) to consider hiking the compensation for public school teachers and others who will render service in the 2022 polls.

ACT Teachers Rep. France Castro has filed House Resolution No. 2181 seeking a review of the honoraria and allowances for teachers and poll workers. Signed in 2016, the Election Service Reform Act provides an honoraria ranging from P2,000 to P6,000, and P1,000 in travel allowance for poll workers.

The ACT is pushing for P7,000 to P10,000 in honoraria, P3,000 to P5,000 in travel allowance and P2,500 in food allowance.
