MANILA, Philippines — The Quezon City government has completed the payout of its cash aid or “ayuda” ahead of the deadline to individuals affected by the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ).

“Sa tulong ng mga city department, barangay, at law enforcers, nai-distribute natin agad ang ayuda para sa mga indigent nating mamamayan,” Mayor Joy Belmonte said in a statement Monday.

According to the city government, the distribution of the P2.48-billion financial aid was completed last Thursday, five days earlier than the August 31 deadline set by the Department of the Interior and Local Government.

As of August 28, a total of 2,339,420 individuals or 747,520 households have claimed their cash aid. But 89,154 families have yet to get their assistance as they did not show up during their schedule.

Even so, the local government has started the distribution of unclaimed aid to beneficiaries.

Social Services Development Department (SSDD) head Fe Macale shared that the distribution was quick because they have updated the beneficiary list, removing unqualified and duplicate names.

Meanwhile, grievance committees have received 2,782 complaints, based on the SSDD report.

Macale further said that should there be remaining funds, they will be allocated for residents who appealed.

“Kapag may natitira pang pondo pagkatapos nating maibigay ‘yung ayuda para sa mga unclaimed, residents who filed grievances or complaints will now be subject for payout,” Macale noted.

Each eligible individual is subject to P1,000 ECQ cash aid, but not more than P4,000 per family.
