Cops tagged in rape-slay of teenaged girl in Ilocos Sur surrender
MANILA, Philippines — The two policemen tagged as behind the rape and murder of a 15-year-old girl in Ilocos Sur have surrendered to authorities, the Philippine National Police-Integrity Monitoring and Enforcement Group (PNP-IMEG) said on Thursday.
PNP-IMEG said that the now-dismissed police officers who were identified as Police Staff Sergeants Randy Ramos, 37, and Marawi Torda, 34, surrendered in Barangay Bannuar, San Juan, Ilocos Sur on Wednesday.
Based on IMEG’s report, the policeman voluntarily appeared at the San Juan Municipal Police Station (MPS) where they were booked for the crime.
Both policemen are currently facing cases of murder filed in July, last year with no bail recommended, and acts of lasciviousness with recommended bail of P200,000.
Ramos is also facing a separate case of rape, also with no bail.
Article continues after this advertisementInvestigation conducted by the Cabugao Municipal Police Station showed that victim, along with her 18-year-old cousin, were first arrested, at 1 a.m., June 28, for violation of curfew rules.
Article continues after this advertisementPolice said the two girls “were very drunk when the two policemen allegedly took advantage of them,” but the girls managed to escape.
She and her cousin then filed complaints of acts of lasciviousness against Torda and rape complaint against Ramos on June 28.
The 15-year-old victim was later shot and killed by two motorcycle-riding assailants in Cabugao on July 2, while on her way home after following up on their complaints.
The suspects are now under the custody of the San Juan MPS for proper documentation before presentation to the concerned court to face the charges.
