Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) Senior Weather Specialist Chris Perez said Dante is now located 835 kilometers east of Mindanao with a gustiness of between 55 and 70 kilometers per hour (kph). Dante is moving west-northwest with a speed of 15 kph.

“Bagama’t may kalayuan  pa ang sentro nito pero ang outer rain bands nito ay magdudulot ng maulap na kalangitan, mga pag-ulan at ilang pulo-pulong pagkidlat at pagkulog sa Eastern and Central Visayas, gayundin sa buong Mindanao ngayon gabi,” Perez said in his Sunday night forecast.

(Although its center is still far, the tropical depression’s rain bands may cause cloudy skies, rain, and thunderstorms over Eastern and Central Visayas, as well as the entire Mindanao tonight.)

“Generally hindi inaasahang magla-landfall, pero posibleng outermost periphery of the storm ay direktang makakaapekto sa mga areas ng silangang bahagi ng Luzon, Visayas, at possibly, sa northeastern Mindanao.”

(Generally it is not expecred to make landfall but it is possible that the outermost periphery of the storm may directly affect eastern parts of Luzon, Visayas, and possibly, northeastern Mindanao.)

Meanwhile, Perez said Pagasa is monitoring a low-pressure area (LPA) outside of the Philippine Area of Responsibility or about 2,400 kilometers east of Mindanao. The LPA however has no direct effect on the country’s weather and with only a small chance of it becoming a typhoon.

Metro Manila is expected to have hot weather with temperatures ranging from 25 to 36 degrees Celsius; Tagaytay City at 23 to 33 degrees Celcius; Baguio City at 18 to 25 degrees Celsius; Laoag City at 26 to 33 degrees Celcius; Legazpi City at 26 to 33 degrees Celsius; Tuguegarao City at 27 to 39 degrees Celsius; and Puerto Princesa City, with 26 to 34 degrees Celsius.
